Jack-o'-lantern or ignis fatuus is an unearthly light which attracts travellers. Its tradition comes back to ancient Celts who believed that on the last day of October, the souls of the dead returned back to the earth. Celts used a light as a protection against these souls. Later they put the light into carved pumpkins. Then they felt protected and safe...
