Playfully About Castles

The interactive exhibition and creative program are accessible only to booked groups.

The exhibition explores castle construction, everyday life and leisure at castles, as well as their decline. Children will learn about the building process, what was built first, and how the castles gradually expanded. They can build their own castle using prepared construction parts. With a puzzle, they discover what castle ruins can tell us, and through a guessing game they get to know selected castles, especially in western Slovakia. In the castle kitchen, they can "cook" some of the dishes based on preserved historical recipes. Children can dress up and play as noblemen from the castle, and also try popular board games. In the castle dungeon, they will find out who could be punished and for what, and perhaps even try it out themselves. Another activity is the conquering of the castle. Together we will find weak points and overcome the defenders.

In the creative part, the children will make a badge with a castle motif, or complete a small model of a castle, mint a commemorative coin of King Béla IV or Sigismund of Luxembourg, and also create and seal a document.
