Vojtech Zamarovský (* October 5, 1919, Trenčín, † July 26, 2006, Prague) was an important Slovak writer of non-fiction. In his books, he focused on ancient civilizations. He received many prestigious awards for his work. One of these awards is a collection of copies of ancient sculptures and reliefs, which Vojtech Zamarovský received in 2000 as a gift from the Greek Republic for the planned Museum of Antiquity. In 2006, he was awarded the "Ambassador of Hellenism" prize by the Prefecture of Athens for his work and contribution to the spread of Hellenism in Slovakia and throughout the region of Central and Eastern Europe. One of his books, Gods and Heroes of Ancient Myths (1965), was translated into Greek as a textbook for Greek schools. His life was accompanied by the "Greek miracle."
