THE TURNING POINT YEAR 1526 – BREAK AND CHANCE
from 28. 8. 2026 to 31. 12. 2026

The SNM – Archaeological Museum, in cooperation with the SNM – Museum of Carpathian German Culture and the Deutsches Kulturforum östliches Europa, has prepared an exhibition dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the historic Battle of Mohács.
This occasional exhibition highlights the key events that fundamentally altered the map of Central Europe and shaped our history for centuries to come. It offers an insight into the military conflict itself, as well as an analysis of the political and social climate that prevailed in the country just before and immediately after the fateful year of 1526. Visitors will learn about the subsequent developments in Bratislava, the Kingdom of Hungary, as well as in Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. The exhibition features rich visual materials alongside a curated selection of bladed weapons from this groundbreaking era.
