The Light Bearer at Bojnice Castle: The Message and Traditions of All Souls' Day

The Slovak National Museum – Bojnice Museum warmly invites all visitors to a unique evening tour of Bojnice Castle titled "The Light Bearer at Bojnice Castle." This year, the museum has prepared an interesting program that brings to life the traditions and customs associated with the period of All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day.

During the tour, guests will discover fascinating stories about the Light Bearer, a will-o'-the-wisp from European folklore, and his connection to the light that attracts travelers. Together with a guide, visitors will unveil the secrets of burial rituals of high-ranking nobles, such as Count Ján Pálfi, and learn about the meanings behind the traditional celebrations and customs of our ancestors.

As part of the tour, visitors will explore the Middle Castle and conclude their visit at the sarcophagus of Count Pálfi, where they will reflect on the significance of All Souls' Day. The evening tour will be enriched with history and customs that have shaped our culture.
