Christian Themes from the Art Collections of the SNM – Historical Museum
The exhibition presents a selection of artworks from the rich collection of the SNM – Historical Museum's fine art holdings. The main theme is Christian motifs, which have inspired creators over the centuries. The artworks, created for sacred spaces as well as for noble and ecclesiastical residences, art galleries, or collectors' cabinets, include sculptures, panel paintings, icons, and oil paintings spanning from the 14th century to the early 20th century. These works "tell" visitors many biblical stories from the Old and New Testaments, tales from the lives of saints, and showcase the diversity of iconographic representations of the Virgin Mary.
