Vespa. Legendary Scooter Made in Italy.
from 13. 3. 2025 to 11. 5. 2025
Innovative, charmingly beautiful, powerful, multi-purpose and very important for post-war Italy; not only is the Vespa Piaggio a perfect example of the Made in Italy label’s creativity and ingenuity, but it also contributed to the country’s post-war development and economic growth. In the decades to come, it became a symbol of freedom, independence, and–why not say it–sex appeal, too.
Since its debut at the Mechanics and Metallurgy show in March 1946, the Vespa has received numerous awards, and its most iconic models are sought after by collectors, design galleries, and museums worldwide.
The exhibition "Vespa. Legendary Scooter Made in Italy." at the Slovak National Museum – Museum of History presents key models from various eras, primarily from the private collection of Marco Fumagalli from Seregno, an entrepreneur in metalworking business.
Alongside the showcased motorcycles, visitors will also find technical drawings, advertising signs, movie posters, and other artifacts linked to the history of this iconic Italian scooter. The exhibition is further complemented by contemporary models, many of which have been loaned by members of Vespa Klub Slovakia and Vespa Club Košice.
The exhibition’s curator is Rino Drogo, former director of the Bologna Motor Show.
"Vespa. Legendary Scooter Made in Italy." is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava (Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Bratislava) and the Slovak National Museum – Museum of History, in cooperation with Collezione Marco Fumagalli Seregno, Vespa Klub Slovakia, and Vespa Club Košice.
This exhibition will open ahead of the 18th edition of the Italian Festival in Slovakia "Dolce Vitaj" and is organized under the patronage of the Mayor of the Capital City of Bratislava, Matúš Vallo.
