The Reading Room of Lajos Grendel
A little over a year after the death of writer Lajos Grendel, we opened the Reading Room of Lajos Grendel. Thanks to his family, the majority of the writer's estate has been brought to our museum. Manuscripts, correspondence, diaries – the entire intellectual legacy of Lajos Grendel will be gradually processed here.
Alongside this, we are creating a multilingual social sciences library, with the goal of appealing to the intellectual and student communities of the capital with its quality offerings. You can already find the first volumes of this planned library here. Researchers and visitors can expect a comfortable reading room with a modern scanner for digitizing texts.
In the reading room, visitors will find items such as Grendel's writing desk, glasses, photographs, and books that were an important part of his life. They can even listen to his favorite pieces of music. Films with his portrait are shown on the screen, in which the author talks about his views on literature, Hungarians in Slovakia, issues related to Slovaks and Hungarians, his hometown, and significant events in his life.
The establishment of the reading room was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.
