Exhibiton Extraordinary Joe
from 7. 11. 2024
SNM – Museum of Jewish Culture and the Menachem Civic Association cordially invite you to the exhibition EXTRAORDINARY JOE, open to the public from Thursday, November 7, at the museum's headquarters on Židovská Street 17 in Bratislava.
Discover the story of Holocaust survivor, likely the oldest living partisan, and outstanding athlete Jozef “Joe” Veselsky. Born in 1918, just a week before the establishment of Czechoslovakia, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Joe Veselsky spent his life as an athlete, gaining fame as a table tennis player. Within the sports community, he is known for his encouraging, inclusive spirit, breaking down prejudices and rejecting discrimination. His name is recognized by the sports communities in both Slovakia and Ireland, where he emigrated in 1949 and where he is regarded as a respected figure. He is the oldest resident of Dublin and verifiably the oldest living Slovak.
The exhibition is made possible with support from the Fund for the Support of Culture of National Minorities, KULT MINOR.
