SNM Archives
Archive of the Slovak National Museum Archive of the Slovak National Museum (SNM) is a specialized public archive forming part of the network of archives in the Slovak Republic. Its main objective is to take general care of archive documents, to facilitate their specialized and scholarly processing and to make them accessible for public, scholars, students etc.
As a result of outstanding position and extraordinary importance of the Slovak National Museum, the richness of its archive is very specific. It contains archive documents coming from 14th century all the way to presence. Archive documents of the Slovak National Museum bear unique and authentic information on the history of the Slovak National Museum, Slovaks, Slovakia and other nations living on its territory. They provide proof of the history of the SNM, its predecessors, outstanding celebrities and history of museology in Slovakia. The seat of the SNM archive is in Brämer’s curia at Žižkova Street 18, Bratislava. Archive funds of specialized SNM museums outside Bratislava are deposited in premises of respective specialized SNM museums due to spatial and handling purposes.
Access to archive documents of SNM archive
SNM archive, including its branches in specialized SNM museums provides access to archive documents and enables SNM staff, legal entities and natural persons to get access to archive documents. Rich archives of the SNM are accessible to explorers from Slovakia and abroad for research and use of archive documents for scholarly, study and administrative purposes.
Conditions for study in SNM archive are administered by Explorers’ Order of SNM Archive, with a price list for services offered to the clients forming its part.
