Science and Research

The museum scientifically examines, evaluates, analyses and interprets the acquired objects and collections with the aim to determine their historical, artistic, scientific, cultural and aesthetic value in the context of their origin, use and direct influence on the further development of Ruthenian culture. It examines the relations of Ruthenians to other nations and nationalities in the territory of Slovakia and in the multicultural environment of globalizing Europe and the whole world. The science and research activity of the museum also focuses on supplementing and extending the collection holdings using the method of field research in all branches and disciplines participating in the activities of the museum, but especially in the fields of ethnography and historical sciences.

The outputs of the museum’s science and research activities are continuously published in both written and verbal form, in professional literature, collected volumes and monographs (mainly in collected volumes published by the museum and by other institutions devoted to the Ruthenian issues), as well as in mass media (radio, television, film, etc.).
