Cabinet of Museology
Museological cabinet of SNM is a methodological centre of the Slovak museums in the area of specialised activities:

acquisition of artefacts

registration and discarding of artefacts
-
revision of artefacts
-
safety of artefacts
-
protection of artefacts
-
research and development
-
providing access to artefacts, collections and historical objects administered by museums.
Museological cabinet of SNM:
-
creates concepts and forecasts for development of museums in SR
-
develops proposals for legal amendments – facilitates analytical activities in the area of specialised museum-related activities
-
takes part in development of museology as a scientific field and helps to apply its results in museum practice
-
coordinates activities of museums in SR while fulfilling joint tasks
-
facilitates further (life-long) education of museum staff
-
processes, evaluates and provides access to statistical and other data on museums and basic specialised activities
-
reviews requests for entries into museum registry; checks upon conditions needed for performance of basic specialised activities
-
coordinates professional assistance to owners and administrators of cultural heritage
-
keeps registry of facilities offering activities resembling museum presentation
-
facilitates central administration of acquisition in SNM
-
takes part in organisation and staging of special events (conferences, seminars); and
-
facilitates editing and publishing of Múzeum magazine along with other publications complying with objectives of the workplace
