Creative june with project "Clay day – magic of clay"

Norwegian and Slovak project, which brings ceramics and porcelain into everyday life, pleased the locals and Modra visitors in June.

In addition to the exhibition, which presented both modern and traditional designs on Norwegian porcelain, two other activities took place – the Symposium of Artists and city design manual presentation for the historic centre of Modra.

The Symposium took place in the premises of the Slovak Folk Majolica, which established conditions for the work of three artists from Norway and four artists from Slovakia.  Ceramics in public space was the central theme, where the artists created on various solitaires (a table for the house, large vase, large plate). Despite language differences, all participants of the symposium, as well as ceramics masters found common ground - they shared experiences gathered from the work with clay. The result of five creative days can be seen at the exhibition open to the public.  The artists had the opportunity to know each other in their free time - during the exhibition in BLU:  GALLERY, gatherings with snacks or the exhibition History and Future of the Porcelain Factory in Porsgrunn.

The author of a design manual for the historic centre of Modra – Peter Bližnák  presented it at the symposium. The Slovak and Norwegian artists, museums representatives, as well as the representatives of project partners had the opportunity to talk about their experience and expectations related to ceramics and porcelain use in the area.

The exhibition of Norwegian porcelain, which dominated in the premises of SNM – the Ľudovít Štúr Museum in Modra, the Museum of Slovak Ceramic Sculpture, presented  the story of the factory, patterns and designers. History and Future of the Porcelain Factory in Porsgrunn was a great way to introduce more than a century of porcelain production in the city in southern Norway. The exhibition was arranged by the representatives of partners museum – the Telemark museum and branch office in Porselensmuseet. We are very pleased, that thanks to the project "ClayDay – Magic of Clay", we and our partners  discover different culture, art and  we inspire each other and make friends.
