Ceramics exhibition in Norway

slovak text

"The Story of Modra Ceramics" is the title of the exhibition that will be presented by the SNM   Museum of Ľudovít Štúr in Modra on 4 May 2022 in the Telemark Museum of Porcelain in Porsgrunn, Norway. The exhibition is part of the project Clay Day – The Magic of Clay, within the programme "Cultural Entrepreneurship, Cultural Heritage and Cultural Cooperation" co-financed by a project grant from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the State Budget of the Slovak Republic.

The aim of the exhibition is to present the original, traditional ceramic craft from Modra to the Norwegian audience. It presents the production of ceramics from the earliest times to the present day. The uniqueness of the exhibition lies in its design, as all the pieces on display have been newly made in the workshops of the Slovak Folk Majolica in Modra according to historical patterns. The ceramics were produced by the town of Modra in cooperation with the Slovak National Museum – Ľudovít Štúr Museum in Modra. Among the exhibits there are pottery products, reproductions of traditional Habán ceramics and ceramics from Modra of the interwar period. The opportunity to present their products at the exhibition was also given to young contemporary ceramic artists, Jakub Liška with ceramics MODRANSKA and Peter Ďureje.

The exhibition in Norway will last until 15 September.
